Peter Pan - Bintang Di Syurga Tabs

— posted at June 28th, 2005 by zaaba in Blog

On a Indon and Malay music marathon lately thanks to housemates that want to leech off as much bandwidth as possible before we move out at the end of the month. House has stock of Akademi Fantasia (Diari, Konsert… the whole works!) and Malaysian Idol; not to mention Cerekaramas that I would never even dream of watching… EVER Yes, thats how bored we are.

Anyway, added 2 Peter Pan songs to the radio.blog: Mungkin Nanti and Bintang di Syurga off their Bintang Di Syurga album. I’ve been searching like mad for tabs to these two songs but could only find 1 for Bintang Di Syurga. Some people memang dunno how to use forums – all they do is spam “MINTAK KOD LAGU PETER PAN PLZZZZZZZZZ” over and over again. Macam la orang nak layan. And bengong people like myself la click on almost every single one with the hope that one decent bugger actually tabbed it out. Dah puas menggoogle dah.

I Passed (What I’ve Been Up To And Other Stories)

I’m back from playing World of Warcraft from shifting some of our stuff to Luc’s new house next year. Heavy lifting is a pain in the back. And I still haven’t packed ANY of the stuff from my room yet. The only things that got moved today were kitchen utensils and a copious amount of pots and pans. Heck, we even got one of those kenduri-class metal thinggies you use to mass cook curry in. The living room is still in a mess, and because we have a guest medic staying over before he moves to his new hall at the end of the month things are pretty much chaotic.

Here is Fahmi in suprised mode with the insane amount of junk we just moved:

And before that mess up there ^ accumulated, I was off to Edinburgh! Beautiful city I tell you. The view from Edinburgh castle was purty as you would expect with the rolling hills of Scotland stretching as far the the eye can see. Reminded Rozanna and I of Florence but we concluded that the view from the Italian city was far grander than its Scottish counterpart. Did the usual sights in the city and we took a day tour out to see the rest of the Scottish Highlands going up as far north as Loch Ness. Though we didn’t get to spot Nessie, we managed to cosy up with a beast just the same by the name of Hamish.

Then there was the U2 concert I went to with Nik, Puteri and Rozanna. It was my first ever open air concert so I didn’t know what to expect – like the ridiculous lining up 4 hours before the bloody thing even started. We were quite near the 2nd barrier so we got a good view of the stage. Lucky for us, the 6 footers were waaaay off to the side so our view was quite unrestricted. Although that didn’t stop a few drunken monkeys from trying to push pogo their way to the front during Elevation. Which brings me to wonder why they don’t allow bottled water from being brought into the venue but happily serve beer and allow patrons such as myself be drenched in it. Alcohol + concert = dehydration = stupid. Water = good = Not allowed to be brought in = EH WTFPWN?!

And in other news, I passed my all my papers and will be graduating on the 6th of July! Huzzah! I will be able to happily slap on Reza Baharin, LLB at the back of my name hoho! Here’s to the working world and to whatever it brings – cheers

Have a jolly summer people. I sure as hell will. /me waves goodbye to student life

Err… as you can see, td.com is currently under some heavy works under the hood. We’re been getting loads of comment spam lately, and I think that’s a clear sign for us to upgrade our WP backend from 1.2.2 to 1.5.1.2#

Nothing major planned as we all know where that will take us hehe. Just wait a bit and the td.com you all know will be up and running as normal. No links of any sort should be broken not should we find any funky bugs lying about. But if you DO happen to find one, just send a tell in the chatbox. Umm… when it comes about heh.

EDIT: As of Saturday 11/6/2005, td.com’s upgrade to WP 1.5.1.2 is complete. The Elsewhere link syntax didn’t even give me a hiccups! I’m very pleased. grins with glee Comments have been enabled again. However, td.com will be applying stricter rules to commenting to avoid spam.

3 Triplets

— posted at June 11th, 2005 by zaaba in Blog

I had with me nine cards numbered 1 to 9 which I divided equally amongst a trio of triplets. By chance, I found that one of the numbers that each of the triplets had was either the sum or the product of the other two. I told each of them to create a 3 digit number out of the cards that they had and to multiply the three together. The result was a nine digit odd number but when I queried them for it, they “spelt” it out by using the cards that they had.

What was the nine digit number?

I read this brain teaser in the Sunday Times Magazine on the way to London last week. I was bored as I hadn’t started to read Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ Love in the Time of Cholera so I thought that it would be a fun way to pass the time. Took me an embarassing 30 minutes or so to solve it using nothing but pen and paper and the built in calculator found in my Nokia phone.

But before you write me off as a mathematical failure, the reason I took so long was to figure out if there was a faster way to solve the problem. Trial and error would have resulted in the same answer but with much less satisfaction IMHO. The first two correct solutions opened would win £20. I posted my answer immediately the next morning. Here’s how I did it:

Comments have been temporarily closed. Apparently a new exploit for spam commentting has appeared. Blame me for not upgrading WP to its latest version. Will be back from Norwich today and I’ll look into it. That is, if I’m not busy PVPing on Battlegrounds with teh Rushers :P
