From Cairo With Love

— posted at December 22nd, 2003 by zaaba in Blog

Ooh. After one whole week sans computers and technology with only old ruins and hiroglyphics to keep me company, me is back on zee computer! I’m in Cairo airport right now waiting for MS777 to fly to Heathrow. I would have blogged sooner if it wasn’t for the fucking mat salleh prick that was on the computer before me. He had NOTHING on his screen and was Ctrl-Alt-Deleting to see the programs that were running and shit checking what the CPU usage (WHERE IS THE PERCENTAGE SIGN ON THIS ARABIC KEYBOARD?) % – ah! was. What an imhotep of a person.

Anyway, me is going to fly soon, zee gate where I’m boarding is opening. Cairo and Egypt was damn the fun, damn the hectic and DAMN THE COLD. I swear London was warmer when I was there.

Will blog about zee camels, Nubian crazy people and zee temples when I get back to wet, icky English soil. /me is not looking forward…

Hiatus @ Cairo

Well, after a hectic week with work and seminars and all, I’m off to Cairo for a family trip! Woot! No more wet Manchester, no more abysmal weather and certainly no more internet (not that this would signify anything substantial to this website anyway huhuhu).

Had Fariz and Redha over at the house on Monday till Thurs. I forgoed my United v Stuttgart (cue for Glory Glory Man United) tix for Fariz who, being a Newcastle fan, refused to wear my United jersey to the stadium. Alan and Redha got their jerseys signed after the game by O’Shea and Ferguson while my jersey remained at home due to silly Toon army loyalty. Lawak sial (pun intended heh :). What a cow.

Pere arrived on Thurs and Smq and Firdaus on Friday. My house closely resembled a refugee camp, with good food available nearby. As Cheng Wan would attest to, Rusholme and the Curry Mile is the bomb. I think I’ve been more times to restaurants and kebab stalls in Rusholme this week that I have ever been since I got here. Not to say that I don’t like the food or am getting sick of it. I’d rather be here than your atypical white mat salleh town.

Lessons learnt this week:

 1. Insist that sales persons stuff your pillows even when they say that the pillow case can’t be stuffed.

 2. Always make it a point to REMEMBER PEOPLE’S NAMES AND FACES… especially ones who are under the same scholarship as you LOL

 3. Own an umbrella.

 4. Bring an umbrella when you’re out on the town in Manchester.

And lastly, here’s a techhy tip for the day:

To test whether your antivirus works or not, copy and paste this string in a file in Notepad (if you bothered to read the readme then you’d know this heh).

X5O!P%@AP[4PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

And rename the file to eicar.com (make sure not eicar.com.txt). Your antivirus should detect and automatically delete the file. If not, then your antivirus installation ran into a problem.

Have a great holiday people, and Merry Christmas too to those who celebrate.

/me is going to join some camels on the dunes.

ARGH!

Lesson 1
Never Blog a Long A$$ blog while you are testing your comp for stability during an OC.

My Barton 2500+ @ 3200+

not bad for a Barton 2500+

will reblog soon… still traumatized.

The internet is a wondeful thing, the RIAA isn’t. Something to do with them suing parents of a 13-year old for sharing some music. link
Nasty People.
They also decided it would be quite fun to kill KaZaA Lite as well.
Those Bastards.

There is a trailer for Ghost In The Shell – Innocence. Go find it and download it.
There is a trailer for Final Fantasy – Advent Children. Go find it and download that as well.
(Hint: Use Bittorrent and/or DC )

Will be going back to kajang soon. Shall be looking foward to my regular 3am escapades to the nearby mamak.
Joy.
