If you are wondering where that is on your left, no not the cool medieval style building, the photoblog…. It is a small town called Sibu and its in Sarawak. That is where my family resides, no not my immediate family… my millions of aunts, uncles, cousins etc. All bigger east Malaysian towns look like this, with the exception of KK and Kuching which are WAYY more developed! The River Is THE longest river in Malaysia, the Rejang River…

Why all this? Its 3:53 am and i am too lazy to Play eRO. Besides that, my mind is racing due to the VAST intake of sugar i had… Oh and…

Blog Updates

— posted at November 27th, 2003 by zaaba in Blog

Hey, this post should be exclusively admin only. Well, hopefully my coding will work that is hahaha! I’ve tweaked the comments stuff, so no more popups. It occurred to me that some anti-popup zealots might choose to kill td.com popups which is a bad thing hence me changing the syntax. Plus, adds less weight I believe to the site as a whole.

I’ve noticed that the archives popup all posts including those from the photolog. This is OK I guess cuz the width of the photos posted fit nicely into the layout. Pretty neat actually. The page navigation should also function too. Let me know if a post by post archive is favourable to a monthly archive.

Any new improvements? moblogging? Tagboard? (I really don’t like the idea, but I’m still considering…)

Selamat Hari Raya!

— posted at November 26th, 2003 by zaaba in Blog

td.com mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! That would be equilavent to what they often say in Pommy land: “Eid Mubarak”.

Ketupat!

Aah, Raya. It’s been 2 years since I’ve celebrated it at home. Guess I’m not as lucky as some Australians are (read: Vedder) who made it back in the nick of time to get the taste of that one day. Rendang, ketupat and lemang… slobber.

Celebrating Eid here wasn’t that bad. It was kinda unique really. Got up real early for a change for sembahyang raya and wore baju melayu & sampin to class. Yeap, for real and it was freezing cold too. There were a couple of other guys who wore baju melayu too so didn’t stand out too much. I can at least console myself by saying that at least my baju wasn’t a shade of flourescent pink, blue or yellow – it was green; read: best house in the world – Naquiyuddin! Woot! Restecp!

Amazingly I made it to all my three classes that day looking like someone who just came out of some fancy dress party. It’s autumn and it’s fashionably dull, brown and grey. I didn’t care, it’s not everyday you get to dress up like that.

Where the food department was concerned, a postgrad’s house quenched my so called “hunger” for decent food. Sedap giler siot. Lontong and rendang and kuah kacang… you name it, the house had it, and I ate it. Though my housemate Fahmi cooked rendang the day before, I didn’t get to eat most of it as the whole 20 pieces of chicken kene bedal before I got to them! Dinner was at Safia and Serina’s house later that night. That too was quite a treat for me tastebuds. Aah, glorious food! (And damn I miss KTJ food too).

Raya!

Selamat Hari Raya wishes to everybody and Maaf Zahir Batin from me for all the lame jokes I’ve told, my random acts of flatulence and for basically being myself. Cheers!

What would it be like if bittorrent never came along ?
Sad, very very sad.

Some slugs graced my kitchen the other day, for which I had the honour of pouring salt over them and later catulpulting them into my backyard.
Joy.

(Cooking+Eating+Washing Up) while talking crap takes away 3 hours from my life almost everyday.
In contrast, a meal back in KTJ usually takes no more than an hour. Miss that damn place.

Gotta go now, have to check for new torrents.

Sullen cynic, a touch of goth, completely oblivious

xlife is of age 20, but lacks the maturity to show it. Indifferent to most things in life. Currently idling away nicely in Bristol.

His only time spent away from his PC is to suffer in lectures/labs, and to sleep like there’s no tomorrow. Time spent online is mainly wasted on downloading useless apps and watching senseless TV episodes and surprisingly profound anime.

Thinks it would be really good idea if there were mamak stalls in the UK, Bristol especially.

Damn.

The title aptly sums up today’s Mancunian weather. In actual fact I think those three adjectives apply year long to Mancunian weather. Just ask the weatherman.

I just did some additional writeup to the post on Bittorrent and Port Forwarding to include some valueble information that I found useful whilst joblessly surfing the net. The info’s just right below. The permalink is on the hash next to the title if it needs to be bookmarked/pinged/trackbacked. Just leave comments if you wish.

Anyway, the image in the background is that of the British Museum of Natural History near the Imperial College campus in London. Was there about a month ago for a Bank Negara meeting so I thought I’d carry out some sightseeing while I was in town. Took the photo with my trusty Sony DSC-F77 and thought that the whole goth look would suit the new td.com layout pretty well. If you take a closer look, there are actually statues of animals and itty bitty dinos on the side as well as little fishies if you have a keen eye. And that’s useless fact #1 of the day. Jolly good.

Now for not-so-useless links and plugs:

  • Macecraft Software for RegCleaner – cleans Registries effectively and for free (last I checked that is)

  • AdAware for removal of stupid spyware and trackers (free for personal use I believe)

  • Micro$oft SP1a for an up-to-date XP

  • Autopatcher XP for a combination of critical updates and useful programs and tweaks

Short post this one. I’ve made sure all the linkies are up and running. Click away! They should function the way you’d expect them to unless nothing’s been written [not my fault issit?].

Again, stumble upon any bugs and I’ll try my best to rectify them. Hmm… rectify, rectify… rectum? Hmm, I wonder if those two words are related.

...I shall try my best to analize them.

Tee hee. Lewd 1:50 a.m. humour.

    Zaaba

Reza @ Zaaba would like to know why comics imported from the States can’t be sold at a cheaper price. He’d also like to know why PAL FFX2 will be out next February when FFX2 JAP International is slated for a December 2003 release.

While he prides himself in creating HTML and CSS masterpieces (har har), he owes alot to CSSZengarden, A List Apart and the colour black.

In his spare time he plays Pro Evolution Soccer 3 (patched!) with his 3 housemates in a damn nice house in Rusholme, Manchester with a kickass bathroom complete with a dragon tree. Oh, and he reads law books too to ensure he makes it to 3rd year in his spare time.

    It’s Finally Here Woot Woot!

    — posted at November 11th, 2003 by zaaba in Blog

Ah, at last, the new layout has finally landed. I’m still fixing a couple of things within the code. I tell you, starting the code from scratch… and I MEAN scratch for CSS layout purposes is kinda cool. But really, you begin to lose your cool pretty fast especially if it’s your first time trying out CSS floating!

For your information, this entire website was hmm… while not entirely HAND coded with notepad, alot of it was done without the aid of a WYSIWYG html editor. Though I must admit that the basis for the layout can be found on certain websites (*ahem ahem*), the CSS code was done with minimal reference and no code plagiarism whatsoever.

If you stumble upon bugs with the layout please, I implore you to let them be known with the comment system below. I know that the links aren’t working. I’ll get working on them pretty soon. Also, I’ll be adding the tagboard too don’t worry. It’s already there, just hidden within the code cuz aligning the comment boxes is a pain in the bottom. Did I forget to mention that this site is sans-tables? Woot! That’s quite a feat innit… a departure from a technique now almost considered obsolete… but you’d have to be a html junkie to appreciate the significance of that very fact 8)
