Vanilla Coke

Wow… ppl are sure dropping by td.com quite often nowadays. Although, I do not know if this is due to drool over the nice baked salmon photo or otherwise. I personally think it’s link whoring :) Thanks Budu!
I write this whilst waiting for my chicken to thaw… it’s taking AGES!
My very “significant other”, <3 Rozanna has a very wide and diverse music taste. You can go on her compie, browse her Winamp playlist and go like, "Whoah! CLASSIC SONG!” and “Oh shit, you have THAT?!” very often. Ah, yes, so are the perks of being under the influence of three older brothers who shower their younger sister with a very wide range of music. You can say that her playlist embodies whatever mix.fm is all about.
I on the other hand, have yet to find a more or less, ‘classic’ song, which she already has on her playlist. NB: Classic here means anything from the past, pre 2003 to be more precise. Until today that is… and that song is The Vines’ GET Free! (Or have you that ALREADY?!)
EDIT: Yes she did. Damn…
What? Who? Where from?
It’s the song in the background of the older Charlie’s Angels 2 trailer. You know, the one with the Angels jumping off a bridge in a helicopter while being-shot-in-two-directions by a tank and a rocket launcher? In case anybody’s interested, the song being played in the newer trailer is The Knack’s My Sharona). Watch the trailers here.
Anyway, I would say that I have quite a varied Winamp playlist myself. A bit of JPop here and there, a bit of nice heavy tunes, a few speed metal tracks and some classic songs too. I cannot however say that I like one particular genre of music. I switch back and forth quite often thanks to the internet (I’m NOT condoning piracy here ppl!). I’m not talking about Kazaa :P; I’m talking about Internet Radio!
Yeap, just when you thought www.winamp.com was all about just downloading Winamp3, they’ve got a directory of some pretty the nice radio stations which I think, streaming in broadband-land UK supports quite nicely. Radiostorm.com or SmoothJazz.com are almost perpetually playing on me laptop. While Radiostorm is as “hitz.fm” you can get here, I guess nothing compares to listening to real Ah-Beng English ala Flyguy and Lil’ Kev (what is so lil’ about him anyway? LOL) in the morning (Whenever I bother to get up early in the morning that is haha!).

In response to xlife’s query, here’s the “recipe” if you may call it so, for the nice salmon you see here at the side. If it’s NOT on the photolog, click HERE and it will magically appear! LOL
EDIT: Full credits for the nice salmon go to <3<3<3 Rozanna (I’ve MOVED the credits!)

Tasty I tell you. Easy peasy too. Remember: It’s ALL IN THE PRESENTATION. If it LOOKS good, high chances are it will TASTE GOOD (doesn’t always hold true though – as I have discovered :(
There goes my 1 month holiday, made excellent waste of it playing PC, PS2 and watching endless amount of anime and TV series. Total time spent studying… none ? Guess I’ll never change…
And so the final exams are near, and the war is over, but SARS is here to stay. Did you know that the rate of infection has decreased but the death rate has increased ? Something like 10% the last time I checked.
Still can’t wait for all this uni crap to finish so I can go home and continue being the lifeless person I like to be, seeing people that I haven’t seen for so very long, and eating food which UK can never ever reproduce.
Won’t be surprised to go home and see everyone wearing face masks…
Hmm… this is a test. As you might have noticed (or not), there is a new little thing at the bottom of the post telling you what music the blogg-ee is listening to at the moment. If we likes it, most likely its a great song to listen to.
/me clicks on Kazaa LOL
Another late night post to keep this place alive…
I’m not really sure how popular my Video Compression Post was to alot of you… from an outsider’s point of view I would agree it was quite a mundane and boring subject to write about let alone read yawn. Anyway, here’s a post something like that, but maybe a bit more useful.
Lucas, Cheng Wan and I stress that BitTorrent is one of the funkiest and most useful programs out there on the internet. It allows you to download a multitude of files of many different sorts at usually, alarmingly fast speeds (for me loh…). Comics? BT’s got it. TV Shows? Check. pr0n? Hee hee… Nuff said.
BitTorrent is a file-swarming, file-sharing program. Here are a few small diagrams to illustrate:
S——-> U
This is what you get when you normally download a file off a server.
S——-> U
U -> < -
U -> < -
U -> < -
This is what you get when you download off BitTorrent. Ok, I know, it’s not the most “graphic” of illustrations, but you get the point eh? Scroll back up to the 1st diagram and note that YOU are not the only user (depicted by “U”) downloading the file off the server. This puts strain naturally on it and therefore download speeds are limited and cut down.
BitTorrent however allows each person downloading the file to collectively share the file WHILE the user has the download window open. In other words, when you are downloading, you are helping others who are downloading the same file by simultaneously contributing parts of the file to them at the same time. Similarly, users who have the larger portion of a file are doing the same to you; giving you their share of what they have hence breaking down the strain put on the central server and therefore, netting faster download rates for everybody. Internet karma heaven.
But how does this compare to Godlike Kazaa? For one, the transfer speeds are amazingly faster than what you would normally leech off Kazaa and plus, you get the latest files really quick. You don’t land up downloading a file and when it’s done you realise that Friends.914 – TOW.Rachel.Kisses.Joey is just a fake made-up file. The biggest con is of course, only the latest and popular of files are available, and sometimes for a limited time only. There is also no “search” facility like Kazaa but who cares anyway when all the files listed are all you’d ever want to find? :)
Download this excellent piece of FREEWARE, NO AD-WARE program at http://www.bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent.

Hint: The 2nd link is REALLY good for Friends and 24 (but the other places have it too).
In the spirit of joblessness, I added the “ass” smiley. I think I’m going to change it to something else less umm… Something else. Here’s a nice file I found on the net. Cute innit?

Hello again. Just a short staff announcement. Vedder’s homepage is up here:
WARNING: Long Post!
How many of you td.com readers watch TV shows off the net? If I was back in M’sia, you would get many a loud gaffaw to hear such a proposal. In broadband heaven here in Manchester, I can get up to natty speeds up to 1000kb/s collectively depending how many bittorent windows I’ve got open. Some uni’s are more “generous” with file sharing such as Warwick and Bristol. Some are downright stingy like Cambridge (KAZAA BAN). As for me, either I don’t know abt file sharing in Manchester Uni or nobody here shares at all (I think it’s the former… LOL).
Anyway, the problem I saw with many of these shows were that the video files were just too damn big. For example, a one hour show downloaded using bittorent off #tvtorrents can easily go up to 450MB per episode. A half hour show like Friends would be half that amount, averaging 220MB. With those figures, you can easily fill up your HD with lots and lots of junk, unless you adopt the policy of deleting the show after watching it. Then of course there is always the option of downloading off Kazaa (KAZAA LITE PPL!) which nets you similar sized video files.
I, wanted to keep my downloaded shows for posterity purposes. Now, if you are wondering if this is infringing copyright, try to reconcile downloading these shows and recording a TV show using a VCR back home and lending it to your friends. Same principle innit? Of course, I’ll probably be able to shed more light on the matter once I study Intellectual Property (IP) Law as a module next year :) I guess an important aspect of tv-program file sharing is that you don’t SELL the show, which implies that you are passing the show as your own. This is of course, an utter bullshit conclusion but this is a subject for another day.
So here you have big-ass files sitting on your HD in which only ONE can fit onto a 700MB cd. What a waste of space…
This is where my guide comes in.
It shows/teaches/guides you to convert/compress the big video files to smaller, more compact .avi files for viewing. There is hardly any visible or audible loss in audio/video quality to my knowledge. 3 CSI episodes per-CD is pretty nice eh?
I guess the only drawback is that these files are for viewing on your computer only. You can of course, convert these files to SVCD format to view on a standard VCD player – you can get these guides from the links in the guide.
I however, have managed to circumvent this drawback quite neatly… hehe! I’ve got an S-Video output cable to me 25” TV which provides me with magnificent viewing pleasure!

Hiak Hiak Hiak we at td.com have our first official hostee
[here]
I just won 4-3 against Perng, using World Elite against Perng’s Peru. What a lame scoreline… Oh well, guess it didn’t help that the both of us got minimal sleep (or in Perng’s case, ZERO) leading up to the match.
Pro Evo isn’t as ultra addictive as Championship Manager because the former requires a mate to make the game ever more enjoyable. There’s hardly any fun in thrashing the PS2 when compared to the throes of despair everytime an underdog team like Senegal score against England (Fariz losing a chance for a free lunch) or the collective cries of “STEWPID REF!” when the referee makes a crap outside play call or a desperate dangerous tackle occurs.
I remember playing CM when it was still CM2 and one didn’t need a mini supercomputer to play the game. This was waaaaay back in 1997/1998 when the internet started booming. I remember the Saturdays in Malay College, when we would all rush out to town to horde the only then-known cyber-cafe with internet access. My god was it expensive then. We got crap PCs (ancient P75s anyone?) and an hours’ worth of farkin’ DIAL UP internet access for RM5. Those were the days…
Of course, as time went by, more and more cyber cafe’s sprung up like mushrooms after the rain and they soon became our favourite haunts on weekends. There were of course, those who chose to frequent the places during the week. Illegally of course, we called it flying then heh!
Heh…. I wish…. I had… Oh bollocks… check it out for yoursel
Saddams main statue in the middle of Baghdad has just been torn down by coalition forces! (Symbolism Giler)

Good lord… whats even funnier is how his delusional “SURROUNDING OF THE COALITION AT SADDAM AIRPORT” and how they are “Slaughtering The US Scum by the hundreds” Propoganda at its most extreme!
Sigh… So do we believe the MOM or what we see on the tv? Thats Up to you to decide.

PROBER
(Dominant Introvert Concrete Feeler )
“Like just 3% of the population you are a PROBER (DICF)—curious, passionate, driven, and probing. You’re the kind of person who can’t leave well enough alone. You have a very strong personality and a sense of adventure. And you’d rather go out and experience things for yourself than take someone else’s word for it. Some people probably think you’re a maniac.”
How true. Haha! LOL.
Ah, but a year ago, I took the same test and this is what I got:
“You are a POLITICIAN (DEAT)—forceful, outgoing, and forward-looking. You are strong-willed and extroverted, so you enjoy interacting with other people. You aggressively pursue your goals.
Your creative style of thinking allows you to come up with unusual arguments and original ideas that appeal to others, but behind it all is an analytical mind that never forgets the bottom line. While some might see you as manipulative, your close friends know you are a talented person who deserves the best in life.
Whatever. You are manipulative. Whether you use your power for ‘good’ or ‘bad’, it’s up to you. If you’re confused what good or bad means, ask a HEALER. Like EXPERIMENTERS, you have a propensity for cheating.”
***
So, in the space of one year, I turned into an introvert. LOL. I somehow thing that the two tests can be reconciled with each other though. But, I agree with the both of them (except the vert parts… I think I can be eitheror at times).
